Our Karimun Travelogue

Hello Everyone,

We will be travelling to Karimun with our Secondary 3 pupils from 19th to 22nd May 2010. The learning objective for this year's trip is to learn and appreciate Singapore more as well as to take this opportunity to serve the local communities in Karimun. We will be using this blog space to update everyone during our trip to Karimun. :)

Together with our principal, Mr Ang and other teachers, we went for a recee to this beautiful island in February this year. On this recee, we discovered many learning opportunities for our pupils especially in the area of national education and community service. Together with their peers and teachers, our pupils will be scaling up Mount Jantan which is 450 m above sea level. They will also have the opportunity to serve the local communities at Madrasah School, Santos Yusop School, the tidal village as well as helping Karimun in its environment effort through tree-planting. ~ The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others ~
Put aside your inhibitions, smile to a stranger and share the joy of life with our Indonesian friends.
For those of us who have not been to Karimun, Karimun Island is also known as Tanjung Balai Karimun. It is a serene and laid-back island in Indonesia which is located about 1.5 hours away from Singapore by ferry.
