When the pupils first arrived, they were welcomed by the local pupils and teachers in a very respectful manner. We were initially taken aback but soon learnt that it it is a sign of respect for persons older than them. Indeed, it was a great opportunity to learn about the Indonesian Culture.

Saturday is a CCA day for the Indonesian pupils. Our pupils were spontaneous in joining our Indonesian friends for their morning exercise.

After the morning exercise, our pupils taught our Indonesian friends the proper way of brushing their teeth. It was a learning experience for many of us as we tried to give instructions in their local language. You have indeed made use of what you have learnt in your CCM course :P Many of the pupils there were thankful for your gifts of toothbrush and toothpaste as the teachers shared with us that many of pupils could not afford to have their own toothbrush and have to share a toothbrush with their siblings at home. Also wish to commend you on the teeth model which you have made! It was such a sweet surprise and we could see the passion in your work. :)

Besides sharing on tooth hygience, the pupils also taught the children how to play a local game. If I am not wrong, it is a game of dog and bone.

The other pupils engaged the children in lessons such as drawing, English lessons as well as singing of songs.

We also got to tour around the school and looked at their classrooms. Although there was no class noticeboard in their classrooms, we saw that simple recycled materials could be used to make decorative items for their classrooms. It was indeed a cultural exchange.

At the end of the half day with the children, some of us have grown so attached to them that it was a little hard saying goodbye.. See all of you again next year!
